How to Use Rotate PDF Pages

  1. Add Your PDF

Drag a PDF onto the drop area or select Choose a PDF file. You can rotate one PDF at a time, of up to 50 MB and 1,000 pages. Password-protected PDFs and PDFs with editing or printing restrictions are refused with a message.

  2. Turn One Page

Under each preview, Rotate left turns the page 90 degrees anticlockwise and Rotate right 90 degrees clockwise. The preview turns with it and shows how far the page has been turned.

  3. Or Turn Several Pages

Left and Right next to Rotate all pages turn every page. To turn only some, tick them (or select their previews), then use Left or Right next to Selected pages.

  4. Apply and Download

Select Apply changes, then download the rotated PDF, named after your file with -rotated added. Your original file isn't changed.

Key Features

Rotation Saved in the File

The new rotation is saved in the PDF, so PDF readers show the pages turned that way, on any device. Each turn adds to the rotation a page already had.

No Loss of Quality

Pages aren't redrawn or compressed, so text stays selectable and images stay as sharp as before. Links, bookmarks, form fields and the document's title and author are kept.

One Page, Some or All

Turn a single page, the pages you tick, or every page at once, left or right, and undo all of it with one button before you apply.

Rotated in Your Browser

PDF.js draws the previews and pdf-lib saves the rotated PDF on your own device. Your file is not uploaded to ToolistHub's server.

Free, With No Sign-Up

Use it without an account or email address. No watermark is added, and because the work runs in your browser, there is no hourly limit.

Common Use Cases

Sideways Scans

Fix pages that a scanner or a phone scan app saved sideways or upside down, so they read the right way up for everyone you send them to.

Landscape Pages

Turn wide tables, charts and drawings to landscape, or back to portrait, without changing the rest of the document.

Before Printing or Sharing

Make every page face the same way before you print, present or upload a PDF to a portal.

On Your Phone

Rotate a PDF in your phone's browser, without installing an app. Very large files may need more memory than a phone has.

Tips & Best Practices

  • A page that reads sideways needs one turn, an upside-down page two. Check the previews before you apply: they turn with each press.
  • If most pages are sideways, turn them all with Rotate all pages, then turn back the few pages that were already right.
  • Rotating changes how pages are shown, not their content, so text you could select before stays selectable.
  • Applying changes saves the PDF again, so a digital signature in it will no longer be valid. Keep the original.
  • Password-protected PDFs can't be rotated. If you can open the file, save an unprotected copy first (for example with print to PDF, when printing is allowed) and rotate that copy.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I rotate a PDF and save it?▼

Add your PDF, then turn pages 90 degrees at a time: the Rotate left and Rotate right buttons under a page turn that page, Left and Right next to Rotate all pages turn every page, and Left and Right next to Selected pages turn the pages you ticked. Select Apply changes and download the rotated PDF, named after your file with -rotated added.

Is the rotation saved permanently?▼

Yes. The new rotation is saved in the PDF itself, so PDF readers show the pages turned that way on any device. Your original file isn't changed: you download a new copy.

How do I fix a sideways or upside-down page?▼

Find the page in the previews. A page that reads sideways needs one turn with Rotate left or Rotate right, and an upside-down page needs two turns in either direction. The preview turns with each press, so you can check the page before you apply the change.

Does rotating reduce the quality?▼

No. Rotating changes only each page's rotation setting: pages aren't redrawn or compressed, so text stays selectable and images keep their quality. Links, bookmarks, form fields and the document's title and author are kept.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?▼

No. Rotate PDF works in your browser with the open-source PDF.js and pdf-lib libraries: your PDF is read, previewed and saved on your own device and is not uploaded to ToolistHub's server.

Can I rotate a PDF on my phone?▼

Yes, in your phone's web browser: tap Rotate left or Rotate right under a page, then Apply changes and Download PDF. The work happens on the phone, so a very large PDF may need more memory than it has.

What are the limits?▼

One PDF at a time, up to 50 MB and 1,000 pages. Encrypted PDFs can't be rotated, including password-protected PDFs and PDFs that open without a password but restrict editing or printing. Because the PDF is saved again, a digital signature in it will no longer be valid.
