Merge PDF
Combine PDF files into one document, right in your browser

Drop PDF files here

or

Up to 20 PDFs, 50 MB in total. Password-protected PDFs, and PDFs with editing or printing restrictions, can't be merged.

Your files are merged in your browser and never uploaded.

Add at least 2 PDF files to merge.

How to Use Merge PDF

  1. Add Your PDFs

Drag PDF files onto the drop area or select Choose PDF files; you can pick several at once. You can add up to 20 PDFs with a combined size of up to 50 MB. Each file is checked as it is added: password-protected files, files with editing or printing restrictions, and files that can't be read as a PDF are refused with a message.

  2. Put Them in Order

Each file appears in the list with its name, size and page count, and new files are added to the end. Use Move up and Move down to change the order, remove a file you don't need, or clear the whole list.

  3. Merge in Your Browser

Select Merge PDFs. Your browser copies the pages of every file, from the top of the list to the bottom, into one new PDF with the open-source pdf-lib library. Nothing is uploaded, so the time it takes depends on your device and the size of the files.

  4. Download merged.pdf

When the merge is done, download the result, named merged.pdf. If you add, move or remove a file afterwards, the result is cleared, so merge again to get an updated file.

Key Features

Merged in Your Browser

Your files are read and merged on your own device and are never uploaded to ToolistHub's server, so there is no upload to wait for and no copy of your files on our side.

Pages Copied as They Are

Each page keeps its original size and orientation. Images are not re-compressed and text is not changed; only the pages are copied, so bookmarks and document properties such as the title are not carried over.

Your Order, Top to Bottom

Put the files in any order with the Move up and Move down buttons. The merged PDF follows the list from top to bottom and includes every page of each file.

Clear Limits and Checks

Up to 20 PDFs and 50 MB in total per merge, so your browser stays responsive. Encrypted files (password-protected, or with editing or printing restrictions) and files that can't be read as a PDF are refused when you add them, instead of producing a broken PDF.

Free, With No Sign-Up

Use it without an account or email address. No watermark is added, and because the merge runs in your browser, there is no hourly limit.

Keyboard and Screen Reader Friendly

Every control is a labelled button that works with the keyboard, progress and changes to the list are announced to screen readers, and the layout works on phones.

Common Use Cases

Job Applications

Combine a cover letter, CV and certificates into one PDF, so an employer or an application portal receives a single file in the right order.

Invoices and Receipts

Join a month of invoices or expense receipts into one document for your accountant, a reimbursement claim or your own records.

Reports and Coursework

Put a title page, the main report and appendices exported from different apps into one PDF before you submit or share it.

Pages Scanned Separately

Bring together pages that were scanned as separate PDFs, such as a signed form or a multi-page letter. Scanned PDFs can be merged because merging copies the pages without needing to read their text.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Number the file names before you add them, for example 01-cover.pdf and 02-report.pdf, so the files are easy to recognise and put in order in the list.
  • Encrypted PDFs can't be merged, including password-protected PDFs and PDFs that open without a password but restrict editing or printing. If you can open the file, save an unprotected copy first (for example with print to PDF, when printing is allowed) and add that instead.
  • With more than 20 files, merge them in groups of up to 20 and then merge the results, as long as the files stay within 50 MB in total.
  • Check the merged file before you send it: fillable form fields and links that jump to another page may stop working after a merge.
  • Need only some pages of a file? Remove the others first with Delete PDF Pages, which also works in your browser, or extract the pages you need with Split PDF, which processes files of up to 4 MB on our server. Then merge the parts here.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I merge PDF files into one?▼

Add two or more PDFs with Choose PDF files or by dragging them onto the drop area, put them in order with the Move up and Move down buttons, then select Merge PDFs and download merged.pdf. Every page of each file is included, in the order of the list.

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?▼

No. Merge PDF works in your browser with the open-source pdf-lib library, so your files are read and merged on your own device and are never uploaded to ToolistHub's server.

How many PDFs can I merge at once?▼

Up to 20 PDFs with a combined size of up to 50 MB per merge. Because the merge runs on your device, these limits keep your browser responsive. With more than 20 files, merge them in groups and then merge the results, as long as the total stays within 50 MB.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?▼

No. Encrypted PDFs are refused with a message: those that need a password to open, and also those that open without one but restrict editing or printing, because the merge can't read their encrypted content. If you can open the file, save an unprotected copy first, for example with your PDF reader's print to PDF option when printing is allowed, then add that copy.

Will merging change my pages?▼

The page content stays the same: each page is copied at its original size and orientation, without re-compressing images or changing text. Only the pages are copied, so bookmarks and document properties such as the title are not carried over, and fillable form fields or links that jump to another page may stop working.

Is Merge PDF free?▼

Yes. It is free, needs no account and adds no watermark. Because the merge runs in your browser, there is no hourly limit on how often you can use it.
