How to Use Organize PDF Pages

  1. Add Your PDF

Drag a PDF onto the drop area or select Choose a PDF file. You can organize one PDF at a time, of up to 50 MB and 1,000 pages. Password-protected PDFs, PDFs with editing or printing restrictions, and files that can't be read as a PDF are refused with a message.

  2. Put the Pages in Order

Every page appears as a numbered preview. Use the Move earlier and Move later arrows under a page to move it one place at a time, or type a page number and a position in Move page to move it straight there. Each page keeps its number from your original file, so you always know which page is which.

  3. Rotate or Delete Pages

Turn a page with the Rotate left and Rotate right buttons under it, or every page with Left and Right next to Rotate all pages. Delete marks a page Will be deleted, and Restore brings it back. Undo all changes puts every page back as it was.

  4. Apply and Download

Select Apply changes. The new PDF is saved in your browser, checked, and offered as a download named after your file with -organized added. Your original file isn't changed.

Key Features

Organized in Your Browser

PDF.js draws the page previews and pdf-lib saves the new PDF, both on your own device. Your file is not uploaded to ToolistHub's server.

Previews of Every Page

Each page shows a small preview with its number, turned the way it will be saved, and pages marked for deletion say so in words, not only in colour. Previews are drawn as you scroll, so long PDFs stay quick.

Pages Keep Their Quality

Nothing is redrawn or compressed: only the page order, each page's rotation setting and which pages are in the file change, so text stays selectable and images stay as sharp as before.

Links, Bookmarks and Forms Kept

Links and bookmarks keep going to the right pages after you move them, and form fields, page labels and the document's title, author, subject and keywords are kept. Links and bookmarks that go to a deleted page, and form fields that were only on deleted pages, are removed with them.

Works With a Keyboard and on Phones

Every action has a button that works with the keyboard and with touch. The Tab key reaches one page at a time and the arrow keys move between pages, so a long PDF doesn't mean hundreds of key presses before Apply changes.

Free, With No Sign-Up

Use it without an account or email address. No watermark is added, and because the work runs in your browser, there is no hourly limit.

Common Use Cases

Scans in the Wrong Order

Put pages back in order after a scanner or a phone scan app saved them shuffled, and turn the ones that came out sideways.

Reports and Applications

Move a summary or a signed form to the front, drop blank or draft pages, and send one tidy PDF.

Combined Documents

After joining files with Merge PDF, arrange the pages of the merged file here before you share it.

On the Go

Fix the page order of a PDF in your phone's browser, without installing an app. Very large files may need more memory than a phone has.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Each page keeps the number it has in your original file, even after you move it, so you can check the order against a printed copy.
  • To remove many pages, Delete PDF Pages lets you type their numbers, such as 2, 5-7, instead of selecting them one by one.
  • Moving and rotating keep the PDF's accessibility tags, though screen readers follow them in the original page order; deleting pages removes them, because they also describe the deleted pages. Keep the original if you need a tagged copy.
  • Applying changes saves the PDF again, so a digital signature in it will no longer be valid, and an archive copy made to the PDF/A standard may no longer meet it. Keep the original.
  • Password-protected PDFs can't be organized. If you can open the file, save an unprotected copy first (for example with print to PDF, when printing is allowed) and organize that copy.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I rearrange the pages of a PDF?▼

Add a PDF with Choose a PDF file or by dropping it on the drop area, and every page appears as a numbered preview. Use the Move earlier and Move later arrows under a page to move it one place at a time, or type a page number and a position in Move page to move it straight there. Rotate or delete pages if you need to, then select Apply changes and download the new PDF, named after your file with -organized added.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?▼

No. Organize PDF works in your browser: the open-source PDF.js library draws the page previews and pdf-lib saves the new PDF on your own device, so your file is not uploaded to ToolistHub's server.

Can I organize a long PDF with the keyboard?▼

Yes. The Tab key reaches one page at a time instead of every page's buttons: the arrow keys go to the next or previous page, and Home and End to the first or last. Rotate all pages and Move page, which moves a page straight to a position, are above the pages, and a skip link takes you past the pages to Apply changes.

What happens to links, bookmarks and form fields?▼

They are kept, together with the document's title, author, subject and keywords, and links and bookmarks still go to the right pages after you move them. Bookmarks and links that go to a page you delete, and form fields that were only on deleted pages, are removed with them. If the PDF is tagged for screen readers, the tags are removed when you delete pages; when you only move or rotate pages they are kept, but screen readers still follow them in the original page order.

Will organizing change the quality of my pages?▼

No. Pages are not redrawn or compressed: Organize PDF changes only the page order, each page's rotation setting and which pages are in the file, so text stays selectable and images keep their quality. Because the PDF is saved again, a digital signature in it will no longer be valid.

What are the limits?▼

One PDF at a time, up to 50 MB and 1,000 pages, and at least one page must remain. Encrypted PDFs can't be organized, including password-protected PDFs and PDFs that open without a password but restrict editing or printing.

Is Organize PDF free?▼

Yes. It is free, needs no account and adds no watermark. Because it runs in your browser, there is no hourly limit on how often you can use it.
